This cask of Invergordon offers a good marriage between the sweet, fresh and fragrant character of the distillate, and the influence of the sherry wood. At the nose it is slightly winey, intense and perfumy. At the palate, though, it definitely shows the traits of the cask it was matured in: it starts with a very winey and dry character, to become then very nutty. The tannic astringency from the oak is evident, but without ever becoming dominating or bitter: it just adds more muscles to the whisky. The finale remains very delicate, with a great balance between herbal notes, creamy sweetness and just a touch of dried fruits but no winey excesses. Presented in a special Glencairn decanter housed in a wooden box styled as an old-fashioned Hi-Fi speaker.
