A very traditional Bunnahabhain, perfectly paying homage to the classic style of the best Highlands malts from times past with its clean and almost austere elegance. At the nose there’s a hint of wine, but it’s ultimately very fruity (peaches, apricots and a touch of tropical fruits) although without ever being really sweet. The palate is initially honeyed and rich with cereals, but then it immediately builds in strength, with waxy notes and even a hint of peat. It ultimately becomes very dry, peppery and spicy. A clean, sharp and precise Bunnahabhain: its balance, width and intensity of taste, never losing focus and vibrancy: something that is not usually found in modern oak-dominated malts, which tend to lose this appealingly nervous character in favour of trivial easy smoothness.
