A very impressive old Glen Grant that fully showcases the wonderful interaction of this evergreen Speyside malt with Oloroso sherry casks. Still vibrant and youthful, it flaunts a wonderfully crisp maltiness with the typically subtle, almost undetectable, hint of peat of this legendary distillery. Very soon, the fruity and delicate notes of the distillate are backed by the sherry: not in a fat, winey and heavy way, but with an agile tapestry of tannins and the very dry, nutty astringency of the best Oloroso. The result is an obviously old malt in its richness and complexity, but it manages to retain liveliness and to strike the perfect balance between the distillate and the oak. Wonderful with some seasoned cheese!
