Two medals at MWF 2018: Golden Tradition

Every year we find ourselves singing the praise of the Milano Whisky Festival which takes place at the beginning of November, the biggest Italian whisky event which has grown really impressive with each passing edition. So impressive that people from all corners of the world, and not only from Italy, are flocking to attend: a testament to the effort and passion that is lavished in organizing the event, and to the quality of the exhibitors (often with very rare old bottles on display and for tasting).

It seems that our love for MWF is reciprocal, because every year Wilson & Morgan wins medals in the blind tasting sessions that take place immediately before the event. Once again, like last year and keeping the tradition strong, we have won two gold medals on a total of five… which, considering the names involved (official distillery releases and independent bottlings) and the overall quality of the whiskies, is an impressive achievement indeed.

The first gold medal was won by our recent release of a newcomer in our catalogue, the Haddock 12yo 2005/2018 "Peated" #3-7-361 56.8% bottling. From a distillery just north of Glasgow that we cannot name, this whisky has a unique style and caught the attention of the jurors simply due to its being “different from anything else”. And this is exactly what Wilson & Morgan stands for: offering something different that our fans can’t find anywhere else, something off the beaten path.

The other gold medal went to our Glen Grant 25yo 1992-18 "Sherry Finish Oloroso" #130818/19 51%: a classic Speysider of great elegance and balance, with the typical sherry note that is so loved by connoisseurs. A traditional whisky, very old style, and with the typical care for cask selection that is another trademark of our bottlings.
