Wilson & Morgan has been submitting its bottlings to the Malt Maniacs Awards almost since the inception of the competition, and once again in the 2016 edition all of our three bottlings have won a medal. The Islay born but unpeated House Malt 25yo 1990/2016 (54.2%, Cask#55, Half Sherry Butt, 284 Bts.) has won a Silver Medal, confirming the enthusiastic reception it had seen at the Milan Whisky Festival where it had won a Gold. It’s a bottling we love very much, for its huge sherry character that is so reminiscent of malts from the “golden era” of whisky. Another Silver Medal went to the Ledaig 18yo 1998/2016 (62.7%, Butt#800032, Sherry Wood, 445 Bts.), once again a favourite of ours due to its uncompromising peat and fierceness. Finally another very peated bottling, the Ardmore 2011/2016 (48%), won a Bronze Medal, which we consider a very satisfying result for a 5 years old whisky which belongs to the very affordable entry level range of our catalogue.
