Quite an extreme Bowmore, and not only for the alcohol level! Compared to the sherry finished Bowmores we bottled in the past two years, this expression is not as influenced by the wine and stays truer to the style of the distillate: sharp as a blade, very citrusy and dry. At the nose, it starts with only a hint of peat, then it strikes with two completely different souls: it’s alternately buttery/biscuity and lemony! On the palate the lemony side dominates, for a pleasantly sour and very salty note: margaritas? Water may make it more gentle, but even so it remains almost tingling in its metallic dryness. The finale is dry and slightly astringent, with the smoke and a touch of leather becoming more evident.
