A wonderfully clean whisky from Caol Ila distillery, matured in second fill bourbon casks to let the spirit speak for itself. Its crystal-clear colour is a guarantee that its maritime, salty and peaty flavours have not been tamed yet, for a full Islay experience. Of course that’s not all there is to love in this single malt! Yes, as expected it has intense peat smoke, of the very sooty and ashy kind, with also a touch of leafy vegetal notes. But add a tiny drop of water, and feel how creamy and silky the spirit is: sweet malty notes, white wine, that wonderfully fragrant hint of lemon peel, and even a slightly buttery feel… As intense as the smoke is, it is never brash or aggressive
