We did bourbon, sherry, port, Marsala… and it seems that good old rich and oily Clynelish loves a good finish! What next? Thanks to our Hungarian friends we scored a couple of lovely Tokaji casks… and, as with Marsala, be prepared for something different. The ultra sweet and fruity wine gives a marked contribution, but the surprise is how well integrated it still is. At nose and palate, it starts full of dried raisins, apricots, acacia honey… but then it remains mineral, sharp and with the typical touch of beeswax and hint of smoke (but this time with a slightly winey finale). The Tokaji somehow amplifies Clynelish, making it bigger than life, but does not betray it. The experiment was fully successful, we love it!
