Entirely matured in the most traditional way, in a refill bourbon barrel, it represents a trademark example of the very old-fashioned Highlands style from this unmistakeable distillery, letting the quality of the spirit speak for itself without the influence of excessive oak. It’s a particularly delicate expression, while still retaining at the nose the classic notes of heather honey, beeswax, and candied orange, but also a distinctively flowery touch (chamomile). Very firm at the palate, it confirms the initial impressions: vanilla, beeswax, a faint hint of smoke. Honeyed but with a note of lemon rind, a typical Highlander but with a lighter body. Extremely smooth, mineral but caressingly sweet, again with a very flowery and fragrant touch: very true to the character of the distillery, but easier and brighter than usual. It only grows slightly more tannic, drier and peppery in the finale, which nonetheless remains fresh and agile, with a stimulating citrusy note.
