NEW
Quite a long finish for this Speyside single malt: 48 months in a first fill Pedro Ximenex hogshead, that resulted in a very rich and round whisky. At the nose it’s obviously winey, but without astringency: it’s smooth, fruity. There are oaky notes and spice, but enveloped in dried raisins and plums. At the palate, it offers the perfect balance between sourness and sweetness, again with plenty of dried raisins, plums, apricots and figs. It also has a touch of chestnut honey, and a certain toasted note. Very full bodied, chewy and juicy, but never cloying thanks to the acidity which balances the sweetness. Towards the end, it grows spicier, more oaky, but still retaining its smooth creaminess, with notes of chocolate and pudding.
