A finish of 30 months in a carefully chosen first fill Oloroso cask is expected to give a marked influence to the whisky, and this delicious bottling of a Speyside malt is the living proof. Unmistakeably dominated by an old-fashioned sherry profile, it offers very fragrant and winey aromas: Oloroso, of course, but also the autumnal notes of chestnuts, raisins, tamarind, gingerbread biscuits. The same full-sherry profile can be found at the palate: the wine is well integrated, and the taste manages to be at the same time dry and nutty (but never sharp), but also honeyed and juicily raisiny. There are also notes of oranges, earthy and herbal Pu-erh tea, beeswax and marzipan pastries. All very intense and concentrated. It becomes drier, more peppery and tannic, and slightly astringent only in the finale.
