Linkwood is a whisky that differs from the usual style of Speyside: it doesn’t take well to excessive oak, it always fights to let the distillate speak for itself with its dry and spicy style. So the best choice is always to follow its natural inclination. In this expression, the sherry just adds a hint of winey nose which complements its natural crispness and dryness well. But at the palate, it’s unmistakeably Linkwood, with its trademark array of orange blossoms, ripe lemons, and a tingling dry feeling. Give it time, add a drop of water, and the citrusy dryness will reveal a wonderful background of acacia honey… again so typical of this malt. A bottling which is particularly suited in mood for summer and the beginning of autumn
