We have been playing a bit with Tobermory in the past years… Oloroso, port, PX, and even rum casks. This new bottling tries for the first time with this distillery a finish in our renowned Marsala casks, and as usual when Tobermory (a malt with a strong personality) is involved, we opted for a very short wood influence to avoid clashing flavours. The result doesn’t mask the style of the Mull distillery at all, leaving its trademark notes of flour, cereals, mint, wild vegetation and camphor absolutely intact. The Marsala finishing is not immediately noticeable at blind tasting, as it simply enhances the natural malty fruitiness and the notes of sweet liquorice. Overall, a lovely very classic Tobermory in spite of everything.
