The return of our beloved Beathan, from a special lightly-peated batch of whisky made in Scotland’s oldest Highlands distillery! As always, we like the interaction of this unique spirit with the influence of a 15-months finish in second fill sherry, to achieve the wild profile that Beathan is known for: earthy, leathery, muscular and uncompromising. At the nose it has that unmistakeable combination of rich soil, damp woods, a touch of smoke… and a contrasting hint of grassiness and meadow flowers. At the palate it’s very robust, again very earthy, with notes of horse stable, a slightly raisiny touch, a moderate amount of really dark peat and also a markedly oaky influence. The tannic and toasted note of oak is particularly evident in the finale.
