From an often overlooked distillery on the western coast of Scotland, comes a very interesting bottling in which the balance between the rich but fresh body of the spirit is perfectly matched by the influence of the sherry cask. At the nose it’s fruity, with notes of candied orange and citron, mineral and also slightly winey. Its taste is stimulatingly dancing between a dry character and a sweeter one, again on ripe oranges but also red apples: the chewy, slightly waxy and fragrant distillate keeps interacting playfully with the sherry. Only at the end the wine takes first place, for a dry, lingering and slightly astringent finish. Very enjoyable, a very ‘easy’ and rich-tasting malt
