The typically sweet, fragrant and soft profile of the least peated Islay malt is shown here at its best. In recent years, Bunnahabhain has taken great care in wood management and distillation style, and the result is a whisky which has much more personality than before: the very high quality of their output in this century is evident in this bottling, which shows maturity and complexity unusual for a relatively young malt. The contribution of sherry results in a very creamy, chewy and rich mouthfeel: sweet apricots and a pleasant nuttiness are the most evident notes of this bottling, backed by a very delicate and subtle hint of smoke and licorice. A very balanced whisky, fruity and delicate but rewarding and with a nice medium body.
