From a vatting of six casks from the same distillation batch, all refined for the final 56 months in first fill ex-bourbon oak, we assembled this particularly mature Islay malt: its creamy, round character is the result we were aiming at with such a long finish. But this doesn’t mean that the peat takes second place: on the contrary, the first attack at the nose is very smoky. A hint of vanilla, green bananas, and leather too. We chose the perfect drinking dilution for this bottling, so you don’t need to add water: it’s very velvety, with a nice malty sweetness, but also powerfully peated. Quite simply, while being intense and definitely Islay, it’s extremely balanced. There is liquorice, then vegetal green notes, hay and chamomile, with a balsamic freshness of mint and camphor in the finale.
