A textbook example of the wonderful whisky from this beloved Highlands distillery, in an expression meant to showcase its freshness, purity, fragrance and unique style, with the least possible amount of oak influence thanks to the use of a traditional refill bourbon cask. Its bright pale colour reminds of very classic and highly collectible bottlings from a long time ago! At the nose it’s sunny, clean, with notes of lemon peel, a touch of honey, then chalk and that typical mineral profile. Some slightly herbal notes, hay and chamomile. At the palate, it has a very chiselled and pure attack: definitely on the dry side, again very mineral, very citrusy. The expected beeswax and the maltiness are there, but they remain complementary to the dry character and to the lemony fragrance. It then becomes spicier, with notes of mustard and white pepper, but with no evident tannins or oaky heaviness.
