A young but fruity, vibrant and spicy Speyside malt, enhanced by a finish for 30 months in specially selected sherry butts which had been previously used to mature Oloroso for more than 60 years! Such very old barrels, soaked in dry sherry for so many decades, imparted a unique twist: the result is particularly winey, a treat for lovers of this style. At the nose it’s very nutty, with the expected astringent touch, a note of balsamic vinegar and slightly sour fruits. The Oloroso is particularly noticeable, with its oxidative traits. We find the same very sherried profile at the first sip too: dry, appetizing, extremely nutty and with a delicious interplay between sourness and a juicy fruitiness (apricots, peaches). The finale is very peppery and astringent.
