A very mineral and fresh Islay Malt, intensely peated, with a finish of only 6 months in a third fill Virgin Oak hogshead: very little wood influence, for a whisky that remains true to the character of the spirit. Only slightly buttery at the nose, it’s otherwise very pungent, extremely smoky, rich with vegetal and citrusy notes. At the palate, it’s overwhelmingly intense: very coastal, salty, with a powerful blast of peat smoke already from the first sip. It has a dry character like that of a very mineral white wine, appetizing and sharp as a blade. Smoke and tar build up in intensity, and only after a few seconds (maybe with the help of a drop of water) a firm crunchy maltiness, with vanilla sweetness, manages to shine through. Islay intensity with no compromises!
