Even more flamboyant than Tobermory from the same distillery, this young Ledaig surely is unique! At the nose it’s very farmy, with notes of flour and cereals and the quizzical organic note so typical of the malts from Mull. The palette of sensations on the palate is even more unusual, contrasting and fascinating though! Big notes of freshly cured leather, damp earth in the woods, a fair share of peat smoke… and then, what is that? Green olives? The smoky and peppery notes become more and more intense with time, giving way to a slightly prickly feeling in the end. The finale is particularly spicy, and it’s only now that the influence of second fill PX casks is evident, with a dry and slightly winey note.
