You know you have a great cask in your hands when its influence is so intense that it makes a relatively young whisky taste much older than it actually is, with a richness and complexity than other malts don’t reach in 20 or 30 years. It is the case of this stunning Linkwood, so lively, fresh and vibrant and yet already blessed with a full and juicy Oloroso profile. At the nose it is winey and slightly organic, but it’s on the palate that it really blossoms in an unforgettable experience: chewy, alternating between a pleasant thickness and a sour top-note that makes it easily drinkable, it is very winey, with exciting notes of dried raisins and liquorice root, caramelized sugar, oak and red tea. A winner.
