A spicy and mineral whisky from a secret distillery of great tradition in the heart of Speyside, known for its particularly malty and crisp spirit. Its style always shines best with sherry casks, and for this release we chose a 20 months finish in first fill Pedro Ximenez as the optimal balance of malty taste and winey intensity. In spite of the choice of casks, the style has not turned towards a sweet and fruity side: on the contrary, it’s still very dry, with notes of red cherries and an astringent character that wins on the softer hints of raisins and marzipan. At the nose it exhibits both a marked note of flour and cereals, and a darker earthy touch that makes it seem older than it actually is. The full attack of the sherry is evident at the palate: very winey, playful, nutty and with a toasted hint.
