A very old grain whisky, unusually rich and intense in its flavour profile thanks to a finish for 24 months in a first fill Pedro Ximenez cask which enrichened it with sweetness and an intense amber hue. At the nose it shows evident winey sweetness, but quite gentle and flowery too: raisins and plums, but also dried apricots and peaches, chamomile tea and honey. At the palate it’s deeply raisiny, but with a lightweight hand: acacia honey, fragrant meadow flowers and herbs, candied orange. It’s an extremely smooth whisky, with delicate sweetness that never becomes cloying. Only towards the end, and particularly in the aftertaste, a hint of tannins from the oak appears, with a balsamic dash of camphor and pepper.
