A very old grain whisky, slowly matured in refill casks, with a brief finish of 9 months in second fill Pedro Ximenez to give it a final delicate touch of sweetness. As usual with this kind of whiskies, the key attraction is the delicate fragrance of the aromas, the light body and drinkability… but with superb complexity. At the nose we find beeswax, and then aromatic oaky notes reminiscent of the cedar from a cigar box, with a touch of camphor and medicinal herbs. The taste is particularly light and smooth, no need to add water: honey, vanilla, green tea, a touch of mint. But there’s a subtle tannic undercurrent which keeps it tight, never cloying. The remarkable freshness grows in the finale, leaving the palate clean.
