A lively, wild and unruly whisky from one of the most full-bodied distilleries in Speyside, it shows bold muscularity, a spicy and tannic punch and of course a juicy sherry influence from the 30 months in second fill Oloroso. The very winey nose, with sour notes of blood oranges, ripe pears and red berries, an earthy character and a slightly balsamic touch, is just a prelude to the explosion it offers on the palate even with the addition of a drop of water. Tight, spicy, very astringent, with every side screaming for attention: the leathery darkness, the malty sweetness, the very juicy oranges, the dry wine and the waxy note. Flamboyant fun for anyone who likes bold whisky!
