ARCHIVE
This Marsala cask has given body, structure and complexity to a full bodied but aromatically delicate Speyside malt. The first impression is honey sweet, creamy and luscious. Then, all of a sudden, sweetness gives way to lively and fragrant notes of dried figs, nuts and dark chocolate. The character of the distillate shines through with pleasant herbal notes of hay and chamomile, and the profile keeps shifting between sweetness and a nuttier character. Towards the end, it gets drier and more and more winey, especially with the addition of water. Very stimulating as an after dinner whisky, or paired with some salty and aged hard cheese like 36 months old Parmigiano Reggiano.
