A lively take on this classic Speyside malt, with a sherry finish that adds a moderate amount of winey character to balance the natural sweetness and medium body of the spirit. At the nose it’s fragrant, fruity and bright: notes of oranges, a hint of raisins, but also a slightly earthy and organic touch. The very dry quality of the Oloroso casks is particularly evident at the first sip: here the winey impressions are strong but not overwhelming, and the sherry acts more like an amplifier of taste. The citrusy notes are particularly powerful, the fruitiness of raisins and red berries is subdued, and the very earthy and farmy impression is confirmed. Towards the end, it even becomes slightly astringent, and very spicy.
