For its fourth edition, after two events in Como and one in Treviso, Whisky Week is reaching new Italian towns… This time, the successful whisky event is moving to central Italy: it’s the first time that a whisky event of such scale will be held in the historical setting of Florence.
The formula more or less remains the same, with a week of mini-events leading to the main show of the weekend (February 18th-19th) held at Tuscany Hall, a recently renovated theatre, where whiskies from all over the world will be offered for tasting, and several interesting masterclasses will be held.
The Wilson & Morgan masterclass (check on the official website of Whisky Week for details) led by our Maurizio on February 18th at 15:45 will include some of our favourite bottlings from recent months:
Benrinnes 2011 Sherry Finish PX W&M433 – 46%: easy, light, fresh and fruity, an excellent start for a tasting.
Dailuaine 2011 Sherry Finish Oloroso W&M423 – 46%: more robust in body, and more winey, a perfect example of sherry maturation applied to a rich Speyside Malt.
Benrinnes 15yo 30th Anniversary W&M456 – 56.7%: the juiciest, more fruity whisky in our recent releases, full of notes of candied oranges, a truly rich malt.
Dailuaine 15yo 30th Anniversary W&M458 – 55.4%: for comparison, a drier, tighter, more peppery kind of sherry-finished whisky.
Jura 30yo Traditional Oak W&M439 – 47.5%: old but still delicate; flowery, herbal, fruity and fragrant. A masterpiece of finesse, that develops in the glass with its own unhurried pace.
