After the success in previous editions of the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition, Wilson & Morgan could not miss joining once again. This year the competition was even bigger, because the number of entries was larger than ever: 519 bottlings, which means 75 more than the previous edition!
With the typical careful planning of our Japanese friends, the tastings started in February and lasted until May: we like when a competition gives its judges (this year there were 241 of them, as always assigned to different categories) some leisure and time to properly rate the whiskies they have received. Good whiskies deserve multiple tastings to reveal their qualities, not a rushed job.
And as predictable, the quality of Wilson & Morgan has shined once again…
GOLD MEDAL: Glen Elgin 2008 Virgin Oak Finish (46%) W&M381
What is particularly impressive for us, is that these medals were won by whiskies that are in our “core range”: another way of saying that even in the most affordable bottlings, the quality and care put into Wilson & Morgan’s selection really shine.
Thanks again to all the team of TWSC… and we hope to surprise and delight you once again in 2023!
